Review of Fracture (2007) by Andrew M — 19 Mar 2010
What is going on with Hopkin's accent in this movie. He was never good at accents but it's all over the place in this movie. It was only half way through the movie I realised he was attempting a hint of an irish accent which at one or two moments sounded like something out of "Darby O Gill and the little people".
He looks like he is just going through the motions and doesn't give a shit. The plot is ridiculous. We are led to believe he is a mastermind who has covered all the angles, but if you break down his plan, you see quite clearly that there is no way he can fully control all the variables, and that the many coincidences that are contrived around the plan just to make it seem plausible are too numerous and too stupid.
Ryan Gosling is unconvincing and annoying in that we are somehow supposed to be charmed by his over-confidence which seems ill-suited considering he looks like he just graduated high school. Good-ish movie .
Bad Casting.
