Review of Fracture (2007) by Zane U — 12 Apr 2013
Hotshot lawyer Ryan Gosling plays a narcissist who becomes an idealist when wily wife-murderer Anthony Hopkins starts pushing his big ego buttons. Objectively it's a pretty tightly-spun legal thriller.
There aren't any egregious logic leaps or "what a coincidence" twists that derail many films in the genre. A lot of the twists and turns hinge on legal procedure, so that's probably less exciting for some people than it is for me.
(Side note: Anthony Hopkins is basically just playing Hannibal Lecter with a bumbling European accent. Whatever works, I guess.).
