Review of Fracture (2007) by Elin G — 12 Apr 2010
Anthony Hopkins delivers a brilliant performance as a man on trial for trying to murder his wife and is set free on a technicality. Ryan Gosling is the young assistant DA with an ego the size of the Golden Gate Bridge who thinks this case will be an easy slam dunk before he leaves the DA's office for greener pastures.
As the young DA quickly discovers, the case is far from being easy and the defendant has mastered the art of deception so that proving his case is going to take some quick thinking and fast action to outsmart this killer. Even in a villainous role, Anthony Hopkins makes you care about his character and yes, even root for him at times. He comes across as very charming and sincere, you don't even realize you're being played or manipulated by this character until much later.
