Review of Fracture (2007) by Lee B — 01 Aug 2010
Poorly written, Fracture turns into a shamble of a legal drama. It's only the performances by Gosling and Hopkins that prevent it from being a complete failure, but a failure nonetheless. The script is laughable at times and there are several unecessary scenes that add nothing to the seemingly invisible plot development of the story, nor of the characters.
There is also alot of courtroom mumbo-jumbo spread throughout which is completely useless for anyone not in the profession. I feel like I'm being overwhelmingly harsh towards this film, but every second I think about it I find something else to complain about.
And with the title of Fracture, it is almost feels like a subliminal message as to it's quality. I was really excited about this, but it failed to keep my attention for the usual 100 minutes running time, that seems to drag right from the get go.
A complete and utter shambles. A waste of money, A waste of time and A waste of an intelligent spin on your usual courtroom drama. Anthony Hopkins is an extremely talented, and legendary actor that I respect and admire deeply so it's disappointing and frustrating for me to see him in this piece of trash.
Ryan Gosling too.
