Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Reini U — 20 Feb 2015
Foxcatcher is one of those rare movies about american fascism with a good ending, and one of those typical excellent sports movies about wrestling. Who would have thought that the best sports movies in history were all about wrestling and inspired the best of our directors?
Aldridge "All the pretty marbles", "Pinned", "Man on the moon", "Win Win", "The Foul King", "The Wrestler" and now "Foxcatcher". But as most wrestling movies Foxcatcher is not about wrestling, it's about the de Pont family, the main supporter of the wallstreet "Business Plot", one of the old families of the great american fascism (JP Morgan, Hunt, Rockefeller, du Pont and Hearst) and Hitler supporters, and not from a newcomer like Henry Ford, Bush or Cheney.
And as you will see it's the only time in history one of these folks actually went to jail for one of his crimes. It's a very good ending indeed.
BTW Steve Carell is fantastic, even if the real de Pont was even more creepy.
