Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Jeffrey N — 21 Feb 2015
In what is yet another film more worthy of being a Best Picture nomination than Imitation Game or American Sniper, Foxcatcher is a hard movie to watch. For those who want a steadily-paced film, this is not a steadily-paced film.
For those who want a Hollywood story, this is not a Hollywood story. For those who like to be generally entertained, this is not an entertaining film. This is a brutally somber movie without a happy ending.
While the story has gaps one has to research when the film is over, the performances alone from Steve Carrell, Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum are enough to endure the 2 hour and 10 minute, slow running time.
As is the ending.
