Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Tiago C — 24 Mar 2015
Despite award worthy performances from Carrell and Ruffalo, this movie drags quite slowly in places, almost stopping at more than one. Based upon a true story of money-gone-mad, it exemplifies what money and social position can do when unchecked.
Carell nails his performance of an indulged, bored du Pont living a fantasy through others. At times you feel sorry for du Pont as a sad lonely person... until the end when his tragic flaws come through.
Despite its maddeningly slow pace, every time I was about to walk away it dragged me back in.
