Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Raji K — 11 Jul 2015
Foxcatcher stars Mark Ruffalo, Channing Tatum and Steve Carrell in a story about a team training for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The film depicts the road of training and work that led to the formation of the team and its trip to Seoul.
It ends with the tragic tale of the team, with Du Pont (Carrell) killing Schultz (Ruffalo). Foxcatcher is indeed a story worth told and features some solid performances, but ultimately is a bit too slow to watch for none wrestling fans.
Carrell's performance was solid, but not particularly Oscar worthy, as the crime he committed is really all that made him interesting. Foxcatcher is not a bad movie, but Miller does not present this film as well as his other movies.
