Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Mjstanks — 26 Dec 2014
Foxcatcher is mesmerizing, sad and profound. I am old enough to know how it ends, yet I was fascinated throughout. It is a statement about the fragility of people who, on the outside, have everything and about the brokenness that comes from loss that neither money or accomplishment can cure.
Steve Carell's John DuPont is creepy, Channing Tatum's Mark Shultz is tortured success and Mark Ruffalo's Dave Shultz is admirable, accomplished and good (DuPont's opposite). I am old enough to remember how the story ends, but I was fascinated until the very, bitter end.
