Foxcatcher was the chance for Steve Carell to cleanse his soul of blockbuster comedies and picking up whatever is left of his dignity. I mean there is rock bottom, 50 feet of crap and then him. Well definitely he climbed up with this movie, that the film is not good is something completely different.

It's extremely boring and unimaginably slow. The protagonist is erratic, is difficult to understand his thoughts according to his actions and the picture of the coach that he has created is incomprehensible, du Pont is like a father/ brother/ friend/ boss? btw horrible performance by Tatum.

Then we have his brother, Mark Ruffalo certainly does some justice to the character, the relationship between both is repeatedly shown as him overshadowing the protagonist. Finally, John du Pont, the worst thing of the movie is the attempt to exhibit the relation with his mother, just like in Moneyball where the connection father-daughter was a disaster.

And the ending is a desperate intent of resurrection, clearly unsuccessful. For the ones that say: that's the story you can't change it; it's BASED on true events, it's not a documentary.
