Review of Foxcatcher (2014) by Ameen K — 11 Apr 2015
Foxcatcher really showed us all that Steve Carrell can play a dark, creepy guy. Look, we all know that Steve Carrell is always the funny guy but in this movie, he showed us his real acting capabilities. Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum are really good as well. I still am having trouble processing what I have seen. This movie was very weird but not weird in a bad way. I'm not sure if I liked it though. First of, the movie was way too slow, it was taking its time through every scene which isn't a bad thing, it's just that I would've liked a consistent pace throughout the film. Another thing I didn't like about the film is that it had some really boring scenes that really didn't need to be in the movie. If some of these scenes were cut out of the movie, I don't think it would've really have made a difference. Foxcatcher doesn't have the rewatch value that some other movies have but I enjoyed most of it and it was interesting that this is a true story. Overall, I would recommend this film just because I feel that the acting was very well and some parts of the movie kept you on the edge of your seats.
Foxcatcher: 3.5/5 stars.
