I do feel this is one of those films that Iâ(TM)ve appreciated more as Iâ(TM)ve gotten older. There are plenty of classic scenes of overt humour like Atkinsonâ(TM)s nervous priest and Grant literally running late to a wedding after sleeping in.
However, I enjoyed the subtleties of observing the profound impact of lifelong friends and the intoxication of chance encounters just as much. This film is what kick started Grantâ(TM)s career. He delivers his trademark charm and wit, but itâ(TM)s the marriage of his delivery and Curtisâ(TM) superb script that makes it seem like these could be your friends and that could be you battling fate head on for your one true love.
