Review of Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) by Sarah J — 26 Jan 2009
Pretty adverage rom-com fare, but could have been much better. It had some truely hillarious moments. As Caroline so rightly put it, the bits without Carrie in are brilliant. The two main characters are flawed, but to the point where you actually start to dislike them.
They could have made the relationship between them better then I could have accepted that she was a callous cow who didn't care about marrying someone for the wrong reasons, or having an affair, or apparently about much except herself.
.. and if they'd had an interesting relationship I may even have been able to put up with his heart breaking but no-harm-meant mistakes! Argh. I just wanted to throw my mobile phone at the screen. If I'd have been him I'd have told her to go **** herself.
John Hannah and Kirstin Scott Thomas on the other hand... deserve a round of applause. I nearly cried at the funeral scene... blub.
