Review of Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) by Sarah G — 19 Feb 2011
I prefer Notting Hill. This is to be said pretty much like David Brent in the Office with the cake scene and Brent declaring he prefers flan. Tis but a statement I believe in but shouldn't diminish the quality of this film. Said to be a compliation of things overheard at weddings mixed with a love story, the jokes are very British but also endearing. I like the way the story flows and even though it is said in the title, the death scene still hits me as a schock.
This is definitely one to see with the missus but make sure she understands firmly that it is not an invitation to talk about marriage (or babies).
See this if you want to see, perhaps, the best romantic comedy of all time (well, at least definitely the 90s, except for Notting Hill of course) and you want to see how it should be done.
