Review of Four Rooms (1995) by Professor W — 19 Oct 2011
A great R-rated comedy and it's original Ok It's original so therefore they don't use stuff like they use in other movies which will be soon turned into it's usual plot points. Tim Roth plays the lead role, the lead actor, the main character as Theodore "Ted" the bellhop and he is mostly hilarious.
His story is that he is a new worker on New Years Eve and he is not having a good time. His first story involves a group of witches making a spell to bring their goddess Diana unfortunately when one of them forgets to bring semen, their only hope is from Ted.
In another room, a guy is pretending to make Ted to kiss his own wife. In the third room a tough gangster played by the always amazing Antonio Banderas is going out with his wife and leaving his kids behind with Ted to look after while in the penthouse, a Hollywood actor named Chester played by Quentin Tarantino makes Ted light ten cigarettes in a row otherwise he will chop his hand off with a hatchet.
Now what I like about this four episode movie is that usually there's one or two directors taking part in a film but in this there's four directors and each one of them wrote and directed their own scene and put it into one movie.
Part 1 had Allison Anders, Part 2 had Alexandre Rockwell, Part 3 had Robert Rodriguez and Part 4 had Quentin Tarantino which is why he made an appearance in his own set. Hell even Bruce Willis made an appearance in Part 4 as well and it was cool to see him.
But I think the best of all was to see Tim Roth in all the parts because he was the main actor dammit and he was the funniest of all. This is probably the first time these directors have directed a comedy and I applaud them for that and therefore here's my final score.
Four Rooms gets a 8/10.
