Review of Four Minutes (2005) by Jimmy L — 15 Dec 2009
This is a movie lovers movie. This is one of those rare breeds where everything works. There isn't a wasted moment. The characters are strong and true. The performances excellent. The action exciting. But most importantly a brilliant unforgiving story.
Traude is old and crotchety. She gives piano lessons at a women's prison. Jenny is an angst filled piano prodigy, who is also a convicted murderer. Traude is a classical pianist, Jenny loves her "Negro" music. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
If you're not a subtitle reader, don't worry, there's not a tremendous amount of dialogue.
Great film.
