Review of Four Lions (2010) by Jesse O — 01 Apr 2011
This movie's pretty fucking awesome. Just an incredibly entertaining movie. It's also actually a really smart satire pretty much tearing apart the very idea of terrorism. It's kind of unfortunate that not a lot of people will watch this movie because they can't separate satire from reality.
Can't say I exactly blame them though, it's still a very touchy subject and for this movie. So I can't really see Americans (well the Americans that still hold a grudge against EVERY Muslim ever) getting much into the movie, and, like I said, that's just unfortunate.
Because despite it dealing with a touchy subject, it's a very well put together movie and I don't think it makes light of any terrorist attack that has happened, it does the exact opposite. It tears it apart with smart dialogue and not the typical "Terrorism is bad.
..so STOP!" The cast is pretty fantastic. I also liked the way it was shot almost mockumentary style. Actually some scenes I laughed so hard that I had headache. Which is good for a comedy. Just an awesome movie with some good satire thrown in there.
Hopefully with time, more people end up watching the movie because it's just great fun.
