Review of Four Lions (2010) by Kevin N — 11 Apr 2011
Absolutely hysterical and totally original. Yes it's a comedy about terrorism, but Christopher Morris takes the subject and allows us to laugh at it and with it. By bouncing off of misconceptions and stereotypes he manages to turn this characters into very goofy, very human and even very likable people.
The cast is extraordinary, a ragtag group of comedy actors that just explode with charisma, and each develops his own brand of offbeat humor until the movie turns into a cinematic circus with all kinds of add attractions.
Still, Morris decides to take a few dramatic routes, and in the end makes some very serious statements about violence and passion, and about the fragility of human life.
