Review of Four Lions (2010) by Jonathan B — 20 Apr 2011
Quite possibly the funniest film I've seen since In The Loop, and it's no surprise that some of the writers behind that one are behind this one as well. In what might be the first (and last) jihad comedy, we follow a group of bumbling, dimwitted, wannabe terrorists as they try and plot their big attack.
It doesn't rely on caricatures and humanizes a taboo subject, all the while providing near nonstop laughs and going places you never thought a film would. It's black comedy at its best that is never preachy but certainly has a message.
