Review of Four Lions (2010) by Stewart W — 01 Jun 2011
In lesser hands a film about British muslims intent on martyring themselves as suicide bombers could easily fall into the trap of stereotyping the characters, being divisive and using controversy as a cheap means of marketing.
Chris Morris navigates these pitfalls and Four Lions does none of these things, instead it humanises a group of people that the majority of Western media would demonise, whilst remaining eye-wateringly funny and delivering a punch of emotion that might surprise you.
