Review of Four Lions (2010) by Murray S — 08 Oct 2011
This movie is quite funny except for the fact that it deals out a massive amount of uninformed and insult-laden stereotyping of Muslims of Britain into 2 feared fringe types - aka the extemist and the super conservative orthodox type.
Both these fringes are such a minute finding in England but somehow they have been portrayed in this movie as the common British Muslim. If such a disproportionately unfair and insulting portrayal of any other religion (say christians, Jews) were done, this movie would be knee deep in public criticism.
So besides the fact that this movie is unbelievably insulting to Muslims of Britain, this movie is hilarious and that is agreeable by all. Its akin to making a movie which assumes that all white people in America are KKK lovers (altho this is grossly wrong, it could still be made into a funny movie).
So yea it's a funny movie but quite insulting and hence weird to watch.
