Review of Four Lions (2010) by Nathan B — 16 Mar 2012
I was really scared that the trailer to this movie would put out all the funny moments there are. However, I realized that the trailer has shown only the evident and obvious humorous moments so that even the dumb people will laugh. The movie itself has TONS of dialogue humor. Somewhat like in the glory films of Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad). I have to warn y'all though, that besides the fact that the characters are North-British (which makes it already challenging to comprehend their speech), they are also evidently of Arabic descent. So first half hour or so, I was squinting my ears to properly understand the dialogues, but by the end of the film I was fluent in British-Arabic.
This might not be the movie that went down in the history as the comedy masterpiece, but I have to admit that it's very original and unique mostly due to its main theme. The gang of characters complete each other and make it entertaining to observe their adventures, or should I say misadventures. Ridiculous cameo by Benedict Cumberbatch cracked me up and obviously the ending that I'm not gonna spoil for you, won me over. It's definitely a movie I'll rewatch at least once more.
