Review of Four Lions (2010) by Khalid A — 07 Aug 2012
I like what this film does't do, and that's turn it into a disgusting R-rated comedy for a topic that can easily be targeted. Another good thing is how despite people blow up constantly (almost all presented quite humorously), there is for the most part a lack of blood and does not try to go over the top with what they are doing.
One thing I thought about as I was laughing through this entire movie was "are there terrorists out there that are like this?" It could be possible I guess. This film was incredibly funny and anything that can make The Lion King into "Simba's Jihad" gets bonus points in my book.
It's also interesting that despite only being two years old how time has an influence on this film. I am referring to at the end during the credits when they say Omar had killed Osama bin Laden earlier in the film and how a year after the film came out he was really killed.
Overall, a surprisingly funny and well paced/ written film.
