One can only imagine what the initial reaction would've been when Chris Morris and team pitched the idea of a jihad comedy to studio executives...
Morris has, however, put together a clever mixture of humour (Waj taking a selfie in order to see if he's donning his 'confused face' is sheer brilliance), sentiment and political commentary to make this an entertaining, engaging and thought-provoking piece. Sophisticatedly written with stellar performances from Riz Ahmed (as Omar), Kayvan Novak (Waj) and Adeel Akhtar (Faisal), 'Four Lions' is worthy of attention.
