Review of Four Lions (2010) by Tomomi S — 03 Jul 2011
3: Films don't get much more bitingly satirical than this. I can't say that I found it to be routinely hilarious or engaging, but it did have enough ridiculous moments to make it more than worthwhile.
There were times when I knew it was absolutely inappropriate and revolting to laugh, but I simply couldn't help myself. These louts are just so ludicrous it defies belief, but therein lies the rub.
What is most amusing is that one can almost imagine there are actually terrorists like this out there, or at least there are metaphorically and figuratively speaking, if not literally. The real power comes in the closing credits though.
The mayhem and comedy is over and one is given ample time to reflect on the more serious effects of terrorism. I can't believe we've spent trillions of dollars chasing after these guys. They obviously aren't like this, but the point is still valid.
