Review of Four Christmases (2008) by Ketutar J — 16 Dec 2010
Eh, pretty stupid and safe movie but I laughed enough. From the line at the beginning (I want someone who's hand doesn't shake when he sticks it up my shirt) to watching Tim McGraw act like an idiot, it's completely over the top but not like I expected anything serious. The ending, where it tried to get a little serious, is actually where it fails.
Great cast. Jon Favreau is always cool. As I mentioned McGraw is always fun to see out of his element. Vaughn is a fav. Robert Duvall simply can do no wrong. And Dwight Yoakam is good. Dwight as Doyle in Sling Blade is as good as it gets so he's always in a favorable light in my books.
The funniest parts of the movie were the stupid word game at Vince's mom's house. It rivals the Cable Guy whisper game. Making out on the beach...screensaver. That's gold. And when the baby throws up on Reece and Vince can't handle it. That's generally what I do so I dug that, though it wasn't funny the second time around.
A mindless Christmas comedy, but at least I laughed a few times.
