Review of Four Christmases (2008) by Xniquet L — 21 Dec 2010
This film is as much of a Christmas movie as "The Holiday" is, in that it's just a plot device hanging there in the background, making this not quite the best choice for a Christmas flick.
Still, it is a bit of a fresh concept and the cast is very good. However, the film suffers from underdevelopment, cliches, rushing, very forced and abrupt events, unbelievable character behavior, (Just count how many women you think would kill time by taking her sister's pregnancy test) extremely annoying moments, slightly confusing points and no resolution to a great deal of things.
Also, while the "Love you're family" moral is sweet but very overused, I think I hated how it was forced out more. As for the humor, the high points, if any, aren't memorable. What is, however, are the jokes that are annoying, embarassing, cliche and often gross.
Ultimately, "Four Christmases" does have its audience and is easily not the worst "Christmas" film out there, but not particularly my first choice.
