Review of Four Christmases (2008) by Deb S — 28 Apr 2010
The film centers around Brad (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon), a happily UNmarried San Francisco couple who have a unique holiday tradition: Every year they embark upon a Christmas vacation to a sunny location by coming up with a series of lies, about where they are bound.
This year however as they head for the airport, all flights are canceled and worse yet, they get busted on national television no less, when the nightly news does a segment on stranded passengers. They both realize that in order to make things right, they'll need to visit each of their four divorced parents' homes for Christmas.
If you are part of a dysfunctional family, then just imagine your worst Christmas ever, and multiply that by four. Good supporting cast of Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Jon Voight, Mary Steenburgen, Kristin Chenoweth, Tim McGraw and even the director of Iron Man, Jon Favreau.
This is a mindless comedy that will definitely brighten your night. So if you want to kill an hour and a half with a generous supply of laughs, then give this one a try.
