Review of Four Christmases (2008) by Chris P — 14 Aug 2010
This is another piss-poor performance by Vince Vaughn who, I believe, hasn't been any good since his role in "Old School". At no point will most of you even consider this a christmas movie.
Other than the fact that is takes place on Christmas, this film misses on everything that we hold near and dear as X-Mas tales. It's like saying "Die Hard" is a holiday film just because it's takes place on X-Mas eve.
This movie succeeded in disappointing me around almost every corner. The film opens with a very dry and pointless intro that only helps you dislike the main characters even more than you already will.
Favreau and Vaughn do provide a few laughs here and there. The humor peaks in the middle of the film, but quickly dissolves and is drier than the desert in July. One actress that I wish was in the film more was Katy Mixon who plays Favreau's wife.
She's been in such things as Bullock's horrible romantic comedy 'All About Steve' and Danny McBride's HBO comedy, 'Eastbound and Down'. I never like Resse and my mind was not changed from this performance.
Pass on this holiday nightmare.
