Review of Four Christmases (2008) by Johnny T — 27 Feb 2011
With a nice chemistry between Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon, Four Holidays has some genuinely funny set-ups, a pace that never dwells on one gag (or even one family) too long and a careful mix of slapstick and bawdy humour. As with most festive fare, the cynical exterior hides a soft middle, but the playing of the talented ensemble cast - which includes no less than four Oscar winners - is a treat to watch. It's pleasantly funny, and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny, from start to finish, even when it's staging broad, easy gags about baby barf and fat kids.
VERDICT:"Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theater or buy an ex rental or a cheap price the DVD to own.
