Review of Four Brothers (2005) by Dustin G — 22 Mar 2010
I really liked this movie a lot less watching it this time. It feels really kind of contrived and fake. The acting is sub par, not helped along at all by a cliche'd, cheesy script chock full of all the tough guy one liners you can shake a stick at. You can tell Chiwetel Ejiofor, as Victor Sweet, watched Training Day about a hundred times preparing for his role so that he could completely mimic and copy Denzel Washington's performance. Speaking of Training Day, how is the end involving Victor Sweet NOT a complete rip off of the end of Training Day involving Washington's character?
This movie has a few cool elements in the story and a passable plot, but it's mainly just a movie trying to be about a dozen better movies that came before it. My two star rating is a generous one.
