Review of Four Brothers (2005) by Tristan M — 31 Aug 2014
Has a decent cast, but a overused plot. There's so many movies were guys go and hunt down the killer of their friend or someone they loved, it's become a kids sub-genre of movies. This is like most of the rest, although it has four adopted brothers.
Of course they think the cops are useless, and of course the detectives are corrupt, so they go around town threatening to kill people for information. The real world dosent work like that anymore, you can't do what they do and get away with it.
People are killed, severly hurt, and the police don't come after tge guys who did it. The story is ok, not original, with its share of expected and unexpected events. The action seems rushed, with poor effects, gun sounds and flashes.
The acting is good, but by no means the best preformances by any of the actors. The movie got off a little too quick in my opinion, with the execution happening in the first scene, so we never get to know Ma, and I think it would have been better had we got to know and love her before her tragic death.
Some characters weren't likeable or needed to be there and at times it was confusing to why something was happening. So the movie wasn't bad, it was just on par with most others like it, and could have been much better.
