Review of Fortress (1992) by Ross M — 12 Mar 2008
Fortress takes place in a future where, due to over population, each woman is allowed only one pregnancy. John Brennick played by Christopher Lambert (highlander) and his wife attempt an escape to Mexico, after she becomes pregnant, following the death of their first child. They are captured and sent to the Fortress, a high-security prison owned by a faceless corporation and controlled by an intelligent computer system, and a genetically enhanced warden played by Kurtwood Smith (robocop/ that 70's show).
This is by no means an oscar winner, but an enjoyable action film, in the same vein as Robocop, Highlander in that it has ideas of its own, and doesn't rely on "terrorists" to produce that action.
