Forsaken was both a breath of fresh air and a dish from the past. It seems most mainstream westerns today feature dismemberment, rape, and a plethora of vulgar language. Don't get wrong, I voluntarily watch such movies.

But as a fan of traditional westerns, I found satisfaction in Forsaken's limited employment of such tactics. Save a few mentions of the F word and moderate graphic violence, I'd categorize this with westerns of the past.

I awarded five stars because this flic out-performed all of my expectations for story, acting, and original story while sticking to the traditional western formula. If you like the old westerns, this movie should be on your list to see.
