This just happens to be my favorite movie of all time and one of the best films ever made. Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright Penn, Gary Sinise and Sally Field. It is about a man with an IQ of 75 that goes through many key events of American History by either social circumstance or his blissful ignorance.

I can see why people may see this as sentimental but you have to admir that it grabs the strings of your heart. Forrest is a rather idiot savant in the book, but in the film he seems to be less aware about the things he does and he may be slow, but he is not stupid (Stupid is as stupid does).

He takes most of his knowledge from the people around him. The most lessons he receives is from his mother, a very wise woman who is one of the very few people who treats Forrest like an ordinary person in everyday life.

She seems to be quite stern on his initial inability to confront others for either taking advantage of his slow thinking or degrading him. That is not only memorable, but very essential. Lieutenant Dan Taylor is a leader who at first underestimated Forrest (as many people did, including coaches for the football team he was on in high school due to his talent of speed).

He treated him with bitterness but after an accident, he starts to be rather protective of Forrest with a still stern and gritty behavior. He is a hard shell with a secretly discouraged heart. And the last but not least, Jenny.

His closest friend and love interest. They are like "peas and carrots". She is the one who, despite his mother loving him, teaches him the power to love and eventually the first to give him his acceptance in a cruel society.

She gives him as much as warmth as usual. They dont realize it very soon, especially Forrest, that the two of them are sources of help and deep connection that keeps them surviving in the world and meeting with each other several times.

They both go through key events, wirh Forrest on the pro and Jenny on the unfortunate con side, unable to find her place. The film is something remarkable and tragic, which led to its succession of 6 Oscars and the saying is true; that ignorance is bliss.
