Review of Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) by Angela H — 13 Apr 2012
Jason Segal plays Peter Bretter, a musician who is brutally dumped by his TV-star girlfriend (Kristen Bell). Booking a Hawaiian vacation in the hopes of forgetting about her, Peter is horrified to discover that she is vacationing at the same resort with her new boyfriend (Russell Brand).
This puts a massive damper on Peter's state of mind, but a rebound romance with one of the resort's employees (Mila Kunis) adds complications to the mix. Forgetting Sarah Marshall could've gone with the easy route of making Bell's character a heartless shrew, but the story instead goes into a direction that is more honest and refreshing.
The main selling point of this film, however, are the great performances and Segal's hilariously relatable script.
