Review of Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) by Hardy H — 31 Dec 2014
The best comedy I have seen in a while, though that doesn't exactly mean much given the quality of the comedies these days...
The greatest part of the film is that the main leads are given characters, and no one is lazily labeled as the villain here. I think it will be even greater if they can go further to explore the difficulties between the two leading characters (perhaps that's done already in the breakup... never seen it). My favourite scene is actually one that was deleted... the final encounter between the ex-couple at the airport. it's actually felt fitting, and even touching a bit.
I am not sure if its because I watch the extended version, I found there were one or two too many minor characters and too much footage on secondary characters. They could have used the precious screen time to give us more chemistry with the Mila/Jason fix, and help us getting out of the mindset that we are watching Jackie from that 70s show.
