Review of Forever Strong (2008) by Bonny B — 10 Jun 2009
I gauge a DVD viewed movie by it's ability to keep me seated. Forever Strong was completely engaging. The compulsion to throw in another load of laundry was overcome by the wonderful story. There was humor and tearful moments.
In reading the other reviews, words like corniness and formulaic stand out. I found the Father/Son conflict to feel quite real. In the book by Michael Gurian, The Wonder of Boys, he talks about a boy's need for a tribe. This movie rings true on many levels. The resolution is very satisfying, but is even more gratifying knowing it is based on truth! This is a fabulous family movie. We need more men of integrity. I am inspired to learn more about Rugby, too!
