Review of Forever Strong (2008) by Existen Z — 26 Jun 2010
Forever Strong is a movie about a young man who plays rugby for his father's team and is set on a self destructive path from his own selfishness and poor choice of friends. The movie portrays every cliche of an inspirational sports movie, but at least this time its in the context of a lesser known sport.
Despite how cliche, predictable and preachy it was I did find the story uplifting and the morals are ones society can not hear preached enough. It is inspired by a real player that played for a real high school rugby team, but nothing other than the bare facts are true.
The rugby team and the coach are real people who do real good things in their community, so it's nice to know Hollywood hasn't exaggerated the moral themes it intended to portray.
