Review of Force Majeure (2014) by Claudia D — 16 Apr 2015
Never winced so hard: this film is a reminder of all we pretend is great about relationships that isn't. Set against the snowy backdrop of Les Arcs, the husband and dad running away from the avalanche that's about to engulf his family may be an in-your-face metaphor but what follows is subtle, funny, at times excruciatingly honest and painful.
Even with a couple of bizarrely clunky scenes the psychology is paring-blade precise and the screenplay taut: really a humdinger of a must-see.
