Review of Force Majeure (2014) by Tommy B — 21 Feb 2016
Intriguing drama about a marital and family relationship brought unexpectedly to a crisis point over the husband's character and his devotion to his family. The 5 star French Alpine ski resort is a perfect backdrop for the drama - the foreboding snow covered rocky peaks, the avalanche cannons providing a continuously ominous soundtrack, the feeling of isolation and brittleness at the resort, with its decor evoking a luxurious but stark rustic wood cabin - nowhere to hide from the feelings that have bubbled to the surface.
Some other moral dilemmas are addressed as well - introduced with a deft comic touch. Well paced with a pretty satisfying ending.
