Review of Forbidden Planet (1956) by Tom F — 21 Apr 2008
A spectacular feast for the eyes, this is glorious technicolour sci-fi. Its very strange to see Leslie Nielsen looking about 25 in this!, his voice seems very different too...The music and special effects were superb for the time, and some scenes which I thought were quite raunchy for 50's sci-fi, the bit where the men from the spaceship are ogling Morbius's daughter and teaching her about kissing.
Has clearly inspired so much that is present in modern sci-fi, including its name which has been borrowed by a shop in central London...
