Review of Forbidden Planet (1956) by Sean C — 02 Jan 2011
It clearly inspired Star Trek, Star Wars, and virtually all sci-fi since. It's also got some interesting ideas and some decent (for their time) effects. Other than that, it's pretty silly. Still, watching Leslie Nielsen try to play a serious action-star type is reason enough to watch.
