This film is said to be based on Shakespeare, "The Tempest". If so, maybe all of Shakespeare writing should be updated into science fiction movies.

Forbidden Planet was released the year I was born, and is the film that introduced Robby the Robot to the world and in so doing created s science fiction icon.

The use of a Theremin to provide the background music (called electronic intonations due to the fact that that perfomers were not members of tthe musicians union) is perfect and the mat paintings used for landscapes and for the power plant deep within the planet are true treasures.

The space cruiser, the Krell lab, and Robby are both abslute works of art.

The cast is wonderful and I really can't find no bad thing to say about this movie.

If you haven't seen this film, I need to ask what planet you have been living on. If you say the Earth, then I can only assume that you do not like science fiction, and therefore you must be some kind of (insert your favorite insult here).

I keep hearing about a remake in the works. If this turns out to be true, I sure hope that they do not screw it up as badly as the remakes of "The War of the Worlds", and "The Day the Earth Stood Still" were screwed up.

A great film, buy it and/or watch it today.
