Paulette and her parents were trying to take cover and paulette fell on her puppy when her mother pulled her to the ground. Her parents were both killed anyway but Paulette was missed by the shots. The fall had also killed Paulette's puppy and now she didn't even have her little dog to comfort her.
She ends up wandering away from the other adults who try to help her and is befriended by Michel and together they start a cemetary for all of the animal victims of the war. Trouble ensues when they are caught taking crosses from the local cemetary to place on the graves of the animals.
The movie is very moving and will have you thinking twice about just how bad your own problems are. Don't miss this one but have a couple boxes of tissues handy.
