Review of For Your Eyes Only (1981) by Joshua J — 24 Jul 2008
Probably Roger Moore's most serious Bond film. Large elements of his 'humour' which reached their peak in previous Bond film Moonraker disappear to present a more down to earth Bond adventure.
Moore should have bowed out gracefully after this effort. The age is beginning to show. None more so than in the scenes with the young character Bibi Dahl.
The stuntwork (particularly the ski scenes) is second to none as usual. The soundtrack is a little disappointing (Bill Conti instead of the usual John Barry score this film, very Rocky!).
I suppose the final mickey take out of Maggie Thatcher and her late hubby Denis add a humourous twist.
A decent debut directoring by John Glen.
