Review of For Your Eyes Only (1981) by Robert W — 04 Aug 2010
One of Moore's best Bond entries, with several terrific set pieces (one has 007 being dragged behind a speeding yacht, another tension masterpiece has him mountain-climbing). Plus, Roger Moore gives a solid performance, supplying the hero with a world-weariness that Bond has not had since the great "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".
One detractor: composer Bill Conti's early 1980s-style score is almost as bad as the music in "Live and Let Die". The filmmakers intentionally went for a scaled-down, serious approach after the overblown "Moonraker"-- the results are thrilling.
