Review of For Your Consideration (2006) by Sonja Z — 29 Dec 2007
Christopher Guest is a great filmmaker and he continues his great streak here with another solid satire. The same old gang is back in this one, depicting some embarrassing truths as to how movies are made these days.
Ricky Gervais, Michael McKean and Fred Willard were fantastic in their brief roles, but as a mainstay Eugene Levy carries some of the dull moments by simply being Eugene Levy. The improvisation is still really good, but not quite on the mark of Best in Show or A Mighty Wind.
However when it is on the mark, it really hits big which is why I recommend seeing it. It's kind of depressing really but with its conventional plot, a smart and talented cast, For Your Consideration is a nice addition to the Christopher Guest library.
