Review of For Your Consideration (2006) by Landen C — 26 Feb 2008
Personally, I think the reason this film wasn't as successful or enjoyable as Guest & Company's past films was that it didn't take its characters seriously. Everyone in it was a caricature, which itself might be a comment on Hollywood: Botox face lady, Jewish director, Fake teeth/tan man, etc.
Which, I think could've worked had they not tried to ride the line of what was real in Hollywood (winning an Oscar) and making up the rest (fake actors in fake movies.) I felt no depth or care for anyone in the film, unlike A Mighty Wind where Mitch & Mickey were funny because they were real; a little eccentric, but real nonetheless.
