Ugh! So disappointing. I still consider myself a Guest fan, but parts of this were just plain bad. I think there was some potential in the material, but most of the Guest humor is gone and the pacing of the story is absolutely bizarre and illogical.
The cast tries very hard to make it work, but only Catherine O'Hara is able to rise above the material. Her reaction to the Oscar nominations was heartbreaking and by far the best moment of the film.
The scenes from "Home for Purim" reminded me of the best moments of Waiting for Guffman and made me long for what could have been.
